MyLabrador Professional Breeding – Emilia Romagna
Discover our passion for this magnificent breed
We are Stefano and Serena, a couple who almost by chance discovered their love for Labradors. Our KYRA — to whom we dedicate this website — was born alongside our story, our new life and our move from the city to the countryside.
MyLabrador was created with the aim of helping people choose the ideal Labrador puppy, understand its language and communicate with it from the very first months through to adulthood.
Together we learned that dogs must be respected, just as shared spaces with other people must be respected. We made new friends and moved an entire village in Romagna when KYRA wandered off for a few days in search of her “ROMEO”.
Our kennel is located in the green hills of the province of Forlì-Cesena, close to the border between Romagna and Tuscany.
Ours is a small family-run kennel (small in terms of the number of dogs bred, but large in the quality of our daily work), recognised by both ENCI (Italian National Kennel Club) and FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale), with health authorisation no. IT022FC037 issued by the ASL of the Emilia-Romagna Region for the selection of the Labrador Retriever in 3 colours (yellow, black and chocolate).
Our dogs are of excellent genealogy, selected for morphological standard and highly balanced in temperament.
By choice we breed only a few litters per year in order to produce healthy, good-natured puppies that are carefully monitored with constant attention to socialisation during the first two months of life.
Our puppies and adults live as part of the family — inside and outside — free to play and establish the right pack balance.
All our dogs have been officially tested and found clear for hip and elbow dysplasia.
They are also tested for the main hereditary conditions of the breed: CNM (Centronuclear Myopathy), DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), EIC (Exercise-Induced Collapse), HNPK (Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis), OSD (Retinal Dysplasia), prcd-PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), SD2 (Skeletal Dysplasia–Dwarfism).
On our website you will find useful advice to deepen your knowledge of this magnificent breed: how to educate it to family life, raise it with a proper diet, prevent and treat the most common illnesses, and enjoy a beautiful, healthy and happy puppy.
Anyone who chooses to raise an animal essentially decides to become a kind of “parent” to it, and must therefore do so responsibly, conscientiously, carefully and definitively.
A parent never abandons their “puppy too soon” — just as our four-legged friends never do first.
They are still capable of teaching us a great deal, because being an example requires no words: we are fortunate to be able to share with them every moment of our lives.
Drawing on our experience, we try to offer advice for getting to know and appreciate all the characteristics of the Labrador, raising it and living together a life full of unforgettable moments.
In recent years, the passion for breeding dogs — both professionally and as a hobby — has undergone a considerable transformation: the number of people who feel the need or desire to have a dog grows year on year.
Today the dog is no longer seen exclusively as a working animal, but primarily as a friend with whom to spend leisure time — with an inseparable bond between human and animal.
The Labrador Retriever is a breed that has all the morphological and behavioural characteristics to be enormously popular — not always in a positive way. It is therefore important to learn to know this breed better. It can be used not only as a gun dog for retrieving game from water, but also in many other roles, such as guide dog for the blind and disabled, search and rescue, drug detection, pet therapy, and as an outstanding family companion.
With this website we want to share with you the joy of owning a Labrador puppy, to meet new people and, why not, to offer you the chance to welcome one of our puppies. To those who contact us we offer the professionalism and integrity of two people who believe that life is truly worth enriching with the joy of having a lifelong friend at your side!
1) We do not give puppies away for free (cost of a pedigree puppy with all paperwork in order);
2) We do not sell puppies to pet shops or dog traders;
3) Every puppy is assigned by us to new families with:
4) We do not ship puppies! On request and by prior arrangement on a case-by-case basis, we can personally deliver the puppy to your home;
5) Our kennel pays very careful attention to the selection of the future owner, who must be someone we consider suitable to care for and live in close contact with our dogs. We are EXTREMELY selective about the future owner (individual and family), their lifestyle and the environment in which one of our puppies will live — in order to assess the compatibility and sustainability of the commitment required to manage a puppy (and future dog). The aim is not to discriminate against anyone: it is solely to “optimise” the quality of the human–dog partnership (in the interest of both the human(s) and our dogs).
6) Anyone can fall in love with a sweet, chubby little puppy — but you must ask yourself whether that puppy is truly right for you;
7) Those who wish to have one of our puppies must “deserve it” — not out of any arrogance on our part, but exclusively for the wellbeing of these special beings;
8) We therefore have no hesitation in reserving the right not to entrust one of our puppies to people we sadly consider unsuitable for this breed.
