Bio Sensor (Early Neurological Stimulation)
An early neurological stimulation programme for puppies
Bio Sensor is an early neurological stimulation programme that allows every puppy, from just a few days after birth, to respond to specific external stimuli.
This neonatal sensory stimulation programme involves creating “minimal, very brief forms of stress” in the first period of life, through movements and changes in temperature that stimulate the endocrine system, the adrenal glands and the pituitary gland. The aim is for the puppy’s inherited traits to develop fully, in step with its physical and mental development, so that it can adapt and interact naturally with a much more complex environment.
These small stimulations produce puppies that are more open to socialisation, with a great personality as they grow, a greater willingness to learn and more confidence in life.
At our kennel we begin this sensory stimulation even before the puppies are born, because research shows that interactions between the mother and the foetuses, between the foetuses and the outside world and between the foetuses themselves already begin in the womb, thanks to their sensory abilities.
This learning continues through the socialisation period (from 25 days to around 10 weeks), the most important stage in a puppy’s social development, when its interactions with other dogs, its surroundings and people increase, above all through play.
By giving newborn puppies specific stimulation lasting just a few seconds, we improve their health, their resistance to disease and their ability to cope with stress as adults, with real benefits throughout their lives.
The five exercises are carried out on puppies aged 3 to 16 days, only once a day and for 3–5 seconds each.
Through early stimulation, the Bio Sensor programme supports the development of the puppy’s neurological systems, with benefits that last for the dog’s whole life:
Bio Sensor is a remarkable programme with significant, long-lasting benefits for physical and mental development: it’s extraordinary that simple early stimulation of every newborn puppy can lead to better growth, better health and better development of the synapses.
This “critical period” is vital for developing balanced behaviour, and it reflects how the puppy responds to the stimuli it meets at every stage of growth (physical and mental maturation).
The environment and external stimuli have a profound influence on the formation of neural connections.
This sensitive window, when the puppy is most “receptive” to external stimulation, begins on the third day of life and lasts until the sixteenth.
Dogs that match or outperform others in certain situations seem to be able to draw on hidden resources: in other words, what makes the difference is what they can do with what they have.
